Breakfast Bites and Big Burgers at Cadillac Cafe

 Waffles with strawberries

When you buy a home in Wasilla you'll have lots of dining options. Some restaurants go out of their way to create an exciting exterior that can’t be missed and entices customers as they pass. The Cadillac Café in Wasilla is not one of those restaurants. Indeed, you’d be hard pressed to notice it unless you’re on the lookout for it. This establishment is in the same building as a Tesoro gas station, but you shouldn’t be tempted to lump the two together – even if you use the need for gas as an excuse to head to this restaurant.

This restaurant more than makes up for its basic appearance (both inside and out) with its food. At first glance, the menu pulls more inspiration from Tex-Mex dishes than anything else. But you really can’t call this a Mexican restaurant, nor does it want to be. There are plenty of local influences, and it borrows liberally from Cajun cuisine, not to mention classic burgers (albeit with Alaskan names).

If you stop here for breakfast, there are plenty of classic options from waffles with strawberries to breakfast burritos; regulars and those just passing through quickly fall head over heels about both. But, it’s the burgers and pizzas that draw the most attention from Cadillac Cafe reviewers and you will have a difficult time making a decision because everything is about as drool-worthy as you’d expect from a passionate cook.

Whenever you dine, you may want to save some room for dessert or at least one of their fountain root beer floats. Of course, you’ll want to check the Cadillac Cafe's Facebook page before making the journey. The restaurant closes for most holidays to allow their staff to relax, and you’ll find this information on the social media site as Cadillac Cafe doesn’t have their own website. Holidays aside, this restaurant is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. during the week, and just slightly longer over the weekend.

You can double check Cadillac Cafe's hours of operation by calling (907) 357-5533. You’ll find the restaurant at Sylvan and Mile 49 Parks Highway, next to the Tesoro gas station.
